Job Description

The Western Stock Show Association d/b/a National Western Stock Show (WSSA/NWSS) is in search of a qualified candidate to join our Information Technologies & Telecommunications Department as an IT Manager

Overview

The IT Manager, with a focus on network and infrastructure, will have advanced experience administering and managing multiple environments and systems.

Additional responsibilities include creating and managing automation tasks, as well as related applications and services. Success in this role requires

strategic thinking, experience with multi-company or single-tenant environments, and the ability to design and integrate new automated technologies.

Founded in 1906, the Western Stock Show Association aims to invest in future generations by promoting youth and community development through livestock and equestrian education,

innovation, entertainment, and competition. We are best known for putting on the annual National Western Stock Show, which has called Denver its home since the1890s.

Outside of the best 16 days in January, our events complex keeps busy year-round by hosting horse & livestock shows, trade shows, wrestling tournaments, concerts, cheerleading

competitions, car shows and more.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Serve as Network System Administrator and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all network, server, and infrastructure-related areas.
  • Lead and participate in Azure cloud services migration, ongoing support, and configuration projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
  • Perform advanced system troubleshooting; isolate, diagnose, and resolve issues across all levels of support.
  • Manage vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements and adherence to IT budgets.
  • Oversee and coordinate the installation of software, hardware, and new features as needed.
  • Manage IT infrastructure for multiple buildings, particularly during construction or renovation phases.
  • Oversee deployment, maintenance, and security of public Wi-Fi networks.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and troubleshooting skills.
  • 3–5 years hands-on experience with network and PC deployment (required).
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and virtual machine administration (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services for migration and support (preferred).
  • Problem-solving abilities, proficiency with PCs, and excellent verbal and phone communication skills.
  • Experience with multi-vendor firewalls, Lenovo hardware, and VOIP systems; willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and some holidays as needed.
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar) strongly preferred. 

Physical Demands

National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While

performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, rain, and on

varied surfaces. Our employees must be able to work indoors and outdoors with regular and prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, must be comfortable

working at heights and be able to work around moving machinery and equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending,

kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 25 pounds.

Scheduling Requirements

While this position will have some set hours, schedules are likely to change on a regular basis based on the needs of upcoming shows. Early mornings, late

nights, and weekends are all to be expected. Candidates must have open availability and be willing to work at various hours to complete the primary functions of this role.

Like almost all NWSS team members, this position will need to be on-site every day during Stock Show, typically for 12-16 hours at a time.

Pay Range & Benefits

  • This is a full-time exempt/salary position.
  • Compensation for this position will range from $95,000 to $105,000 a year depending on experience.
  • Full-time employees qualify for partial paid medical, dental, vision, and life for employee; family coverage is available at group rates.
  • 100% paid long term disability.
  • Paid sick leave and vacation time, as well as bonus days.
  • Upon meeting plan qualifications, a competitive 401(k) retirement plan is available.
