Position Summary:

Xico Lighting is seeking an experienced Materials Planning & Purchasing Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of materials planning, inventory control, purchasing, and warehouse operations. This position manages a team responsible for materials planning, procurement, inventory management, and warehouse functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, deep expertise in supply chain management, purchasing negotiations, materials planning, and warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the materials planning, purchasing, and warehouse teams to ensure alignment with company production and delivery objectives.
  • Develop and execute materials planning strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels aligned with production schedules and customer demand.
  • Oversee all purchasing activities, including supplier negotiations, pricing, lead time management, and purchase order processing.
  • Manage warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, put-away, stock rotation, and shipping accuracy.
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, engineering, and production teams to forecast material needs and support dynamic customer orders.
  • Establish and maintain inventory targets, safety stock levels, reorder points, and supplier performance KPIs.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, and delivery reliability.
  • Utilize ERP/MRP systems (Rootstock ERP/Salesforce) to manage purchasing, inventory accuracy, BOM data integrity, and lead times.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives in materials management, purchasing, and warehouse processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Lead efforts to resolve material shortages, delivery delays, and inventory discrepancies to maintain on-time production and order fulfillment.
  • Develop department KPIs, reports, and dashboards to monitor purchasing performance, supplier delivery, inventory turns, and warehouse efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards across warehouse and materials operations.


Management Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of materials planning, purchasing, and warehouse staff.
  • Provide leadership, training, and professional development for direct reports.
  • Establish clear goals, accountability, and performance standards for department team members.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluation of department personnel.


Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in materials planning, inventory management, purchasing, and warehouse operations in a manufacturing environment (lighting, electronics, or engineered products preferred).
  • 3+ years of direct management experience leading materials, purchasing, and warehouse teams.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing practices, supplier negotiations, and sourcing strategies.
  • Solid understanding of MRP/ERP systems, inventory control, BOM management, and supply chain planning (Rootstock ERP and Salesforce CRM experience highly desirable).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communicator and cross-functional collaborator with strong leadership abilities.
  • Experience with vertically integrated, make-to-order or engineer-to-order manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field preferred.
  • APICS/ISM certification strongly preferred.
